About
Why We Farm
At Fermentation Farm Acres, we are committed to sustainable farming practices and dedicated to growing the highest quality produce. We’re growing a range of seasonal crops that will become the fresh, fermented vegetables you know and love in our restaurant and retail shop.
Who We Are
Yasmine Mason, DC – The visionary behind Fermentation Farm, Dr. Yas is on a mission to create a truly sustainable, local, and healthy food company. The farm is the next step in that vision—a place where food and values grow together.
Farmer MaryKate – With a degree in Sustainable Environmental Design from UC Davis and five years of hands-on urban farming experience, MaryKate is passionate about turning this land into a thriving ecosystem. She's thrilled to grow alongside the community and share her love of growing food.
How We Grow
We grow as sustainably and organically as possible— which means we are building healthy soils without synthetic chemicals so that the land can thrive for generations to come. Healthy soil means happy plants, and happy plants mean delicious, nutrient-dense food.
This method not only produces vibrant crops but helps us move toward our goal of creating a closed-loop, sustainable restaurant system. Everything we grow, harvest, and ferment is part of a bigger picture—one that respects the earth and gives back more than it takes.
And we can't do this alone! Our volunteers are the heartbeat of the farm. Every seed planted and every weed pulled brings us one step closer to a healthier food system. We’re forever grateful for every helping hand.
Support Education & Community Food Access
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Fermentation Farm Acres is working to create a sustainable, closed-loop farm-to-table system that grows the food served at Fermentation Farm while investing in the health of our community.
Through educational farm tours, hands-on workshops, and internship opportunities, we are helping cultivate the next generation of farmers. Any excess produce grown on the farm is donated each month to Father Serra’s Food Pantry, ensuring fresh, nutrient-dense food reaches families who need it most.
Your support helps us continue growing food, educating our community, and sharing the harvest with our neighbors.
